Crispin Glover is getting some buzz for resurrecting his career like a rude, one-armed bellhop in John Cusack's latest comedy vehicle: Spa Time Machine. Obviously, Glover's career didn't necessarily require a resurrection because he's on the roll, recently appearing in box office hit, Alice's adventures in wonderland.
The hoi polloi is connecting the dots with Glover's McFly role within the 1985 hit, Back to the Future and the role in Spa Time Machine. After all, the brand new film is all about traveling back to the 80s when Back to the Future (also featuring time travel), John Cusack and Chevy Chase ruled earth. Only the 80s connections, time travel allusions and Cusack's spray on tan make mtss is a should see film.
What individuals don't realize is Glover has cultivated a cultish underground following, screening his whack short films on any projector which will get him to going back Fifteen years, such as the wildly odd What exactly is it? That stars himself along with a cast of actors with Down's Syndrome.
Hot Tub Time Machine is really a raunchy good time. The title is ridiculous and the premise sounds stupid however the trailer looks rather funny, plus there are boobies, leg warmers, cassette players, turquoise colored clothing, along with a crew of losers seeking to find their mojo. Add Glover, that has the quirky acting chops that successful modern comedies really need to become phenomenon (see Zach Galifianakis within the Hangover as well as your mama in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure), which is really a flick worth seeing.
Of course, early reports possess some stupid 3D dragon movie topping this area office and Alice's adventures in wonderland holding strong, while Spa parks itself firmly in third place.
Cusack appears like he's pulling from the straight man roll with aplomb, "that movie guy, " Rob Corddry is spewing funny attitude all over the area, Work stalwart, Craig Robinson, appears like the glue to the ensemble cast together with his impeccable timing, and the young goober kid, Clark Duke, seems to be trying too tough to make use of this box office smash to produce a semblance of the funny nerd career.
Critics are included those reviews of the movie, however the consensus on Rotten Tomatoes appears to conclude nicely: "Its flagrantly silly script -- and immensely likable cast -- make up for many of their flaws. " The film has garnered a 62 rating on the Tomatometer, which qualifies it as being Fresh instead of Rotten.
But to Glover. The person is hot and also you have to witness and have confidence in the resurrection of McFly. It's awesome. Need proof? Take a look at one of the many trailers with this farce, where Mr. Glover drops some serious one-armed man attitude, while refusing help with the luggage and demanding a generous gratuity despite an extremely sloppy job of carting the crew's items to their accommodation.
"This may be the part in which you tip the man that aided you, " Glover's character Phil says while holding has give away expectantly. He's just tossed the luggage over the room and yelled at somebody that was attempting to help him. Brilliant.
