The Yellowstone is one of the world's greatest natural land and water formations. It is common that many novels, movies and documentaries happen to be discussed the park. The park may be the subject or even the location of some media exploring both its beauty and it is hidden fictional and real sinister power.
The earliest known movies associated with the park were drawn in 1897 and directed by Mr. Thomas A. Edison; they were reported by Filminamerica: two black-and-white mini-movies entitled "Tourists Going Round Yellowstone Park" (18 seconds) and "Lower Falls, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone Park" (26 seconds).
One of the many movie guides made in the park is the fact that by having an obvious title of "Yellowstone Park", which features the grandeur of the park's beautiful scenery. It had been made to promote the park by showcasing the various water forms the park offers to the visitors: its beautiful geysers, waterfalls, hotsprings and reflective lakes. The film took 25000 hours to accomplish however it was worth the effort of the team.
Other travelogs range from the much acclaimed best travelog "Yellowstone: Imprints of Geologic Time", "Yellowstone's Amazing Wildlife", and "Yellowstone: The earth's Most Amazing Park". "Amazing Wonders of the World: Kingdom of the West - Yellowstone, Yosemite & Glacier National Parks" also featured the park along with the two other natural parks of equal beauty.
A docudrama series shown in BBC and Discovery channel, the first a part of that is entitled "Supervolcano", evolved round the park's volcanic caldera. The film's fictional characters struggled to retain the spontaneous eruptions happening all over the park which spread around the world. The film featured stunning imagery of volcanic eruptions and showed computer simulations of the way the earth might seem like after such violent destruction. Everything ends with the park along with a large number of the US buried in volcanic ash. And like several another doomsday movies, the entire earth was impacted by the eruptions and converted into a wild world with the upper part in volcanic winter and the lower part in ice age or perhaps in drought. The 2nd part of the docudrama was more of the documentary providing you with evidence to the authenticity of the movie. It had been entitled "Supervolcano: The reality regarding Yellowstone".
Departing from documentaries, the Yellowstone is yet another one of Hollywood's favorite venues. Movies starring the best of the stars have dominated this area office. One such movie may be the 1992 film version of the novel with the same title: The River Runs Through It, which grossed $43, 440, 294 based on the report of Boxofficemojo. Another one could well be "The Horse Whisperer", also an adaptation of the novel with the same title compiled by the renowned Nicholas Sparks.
Even NASA has some mini-movies dedicated to the park. Within the Cool Cosmos website, short movies (less that one minute) were posted, all made to show through infrared videography both beauty and power of the "Earth's geothermal power". Included in this are some geysers, hot springs as well as some local wildlife, all captured in infrared. It shows a fascinating and different method to see the park.
These are simply few of the numerous movies credited to the beauty of the majestic Yellowstone Park. You should be expecting more movies of greater caliber to be made of the awesome wonder of nature within the a long time.
