His Majesty's Theatre or HMT in Aberdeen is the perfect spot to witness prestigious, first class theatre productions, drama, musicals and dance. Having earned a reputation as the biggest theatre in north-east Scotland, HMT is excellently positioned opposite the Union Terrace Gardens of the city.
Designed by renowned architect Frank Matcham, His Majesty's Theatre opened to the public in 1906. The theatre can accommodate an overall total quantity of 1470 people. HMT happens to be administered by Aberdeen Performing Arts, a business that's also responsible in overseeing the Lemon tree, Aberdeen Box Office and the Music Hall.
In September 2005, the theatre was reopened after a significant development effort that cost 鎷?8 million. The refurbishment bestowed the home a Twenty-first century outlook that included a glass fronted box office, cafe and restaurant. The revamp was executed by famous architect Trevor Smith who also designed the Aberdeen Maritime Museum.
As an effect of the redevelopment efforts, the HMT auditorium was installed with a lot more seats and backstage facilities were enhanced. The refurbishment efforts also led to giving the historic Edwardian building a modern day touch. The brand new and many current facilities provided at His Majesty's Theatre offers both performers and theatre goers comfort, convenience and indubitably a memorable experience.
This beautiful theatre provides many educational programmes for example youth theatre workshops and show talks. Backstage behind the curtain tours offered here have grown to be a popular among many thinking about the concept of performing arts. Theatre tours usually provide the chance to discover both front of house and backstage and take nearly an hour or so. Special school workshops will also be held at His Majesty's Theatre which includes education packs and group tours.
The Foyer may be the latest restaurant located at the very top floor of the box office only at that charming theatre. The restaurant is open for supper and dinner as the cafe bar is good to savor a fast snack. This grand theatre and it is wonderful performances can be simply enjoyed by staying in a close well serviced Aberdeen Hotel.
