Weekend box office January 30th - The Rite, No Strings Attached and the Green Hornet

The first month of 2011 is incorporated in the books as far as the weekend box office numbers are worried. Overall the first month of 2011 brought us good quality flicks but we're looking forward to exactly what the rest of the year provides as well. Here are the very best performing films for that weekend of January 30th, 2011.

Coming in at the very top of the list with this weekend's box office earnings was the Anthony Hopkins thriller The Rite. Hopkins plays the creepy Father Lucas Trevant who travels to Italy to review in an exorcism school. We remember Hopkins best for his gripping role in The Silence of the Lambs which movie could match that performance. The Rite made $15 million in the opening weekend that is slightly under original expectations. The genre may be holding this film back from bigger success however the person to person on the movie can also be mixed. If you like thrillers having a small horror twist this film could just be for you personally.

No Strings Attachedcontinues to determine good quality success as the Ashton kutcher and Natalie Portman film held strong within the second box office spot. The romantic comedy, which has lots of great visual screen candy, could add $13. 7 million for that weekend to create both week domestic earnings total to $39. 7 million. The duo of Kutcher and Portman is proving to be an effective one as the film is actually hitting it big time with the romantic movie going crowds.

The Green Hornethad an execllent weekend holding the 3rd place spot within their third weekend in the theaters. The experience comedy, that was compiled by and starred Seth Rogen, was pleased to add $10. 5 million for their domestic main point here bringing their three week earnings total to $78. 8. Search for The Green Hornet to cross over the coveted $100 million mark between mid February.

In opening weekend news The Mechanic earned $11. 5 million for that weekend and grabbed your fourth weekend box office spot. The experience thriller starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster performed much better than the initial expectations for that film. The Mechanic, as well as all of the current box office films, should have a small hit next weekend because they will need to compete with the spectacle that's the Super Bowl.
